Interstellar Attack is a brilliantly nostalgic slot game set up using a 5x reel and 5x row grid (with an extra special reel that I’ll cover below) where you must destroy monsters to collect power-ups and loads of bonuses. 

How I tested Interstellar Attack

Interstellar Attack was a brilliantly fun game to play as it felt like taking a trip down memory lane to the days of space-themed arcade games, complete with spaceships and aliens. Who doesn’t enjoy shooting up monsters? So, when this is combined with a slot game, it makes for a very enjoyable experience. I was able to look at every feature of the game to provide a detailed review; here’s how I tested it:

1. I actually played the game! Now, this might seem like an obvious statement to make, but with so many slot reviews out there written by people who have never played the game, you can be assured of getting my honest feedback, including all the positives, and any negatives. 
2. I researched the Return To Player (RTP) stats and the volatility, some of the first things you should look at in any game. This tells you how often you can expect to win when playing the reels and is one of the main factors I look at when choosing to play a certain game.
3. I also focussed on the theme and graphics. The enjoyment of a slot game can be really affected by the quality of the graphics and the theme itself, so it is a very important factor when judging the overall experience in my opinion. 
4. I looked at the minimum and maximum stakes. The best games should be accessible to everyone, no matter what budget a player has.
5. I looked to understand the gameplay and how different symbols can unlock the bonuses and features. You can play slots well when you understand the rules of the game, so I wanted to know what all the symbols meant so you can take advantage of them.

Interstellar Attack Symbols & Payouts

As you’d expect, Interstellar Attack is very space-themed and so uses symbols of things you might expect to see out in the galaxy. The main symbols are different colored monsters, but they also use multicolored asteroids, crystals in the Spin-Crease feature, and Power-up symbols.

Interstellar Attack operates with a series of differently colored monster symbols that all carry separate values and bet multipliers. There is an orange, purple, green, and pink monster, as well as other symbols such as asteroids and spaceships.  

There is also a Telescope scatter symbol, which unlocks 10 x free spins in the Interstellar Attack bonus game if you successfully shoot them down.

Interstellar Attack is a very accessible game for most budgets as you can play from as little as $0.20 per spin, with a maximum bet of just $40 per spin. This means you can stay in control of your spending, which is a big plus. However, the limit on the maximum spend might not be for everyone, especially if you prefer to play higher-stakes games.   

A pleasing feature to find was that the game has an Autoplay function where you can select to play autospins, which can be customized to stop after a single win, or if a win exceeds a certain amount. Another positive I found was that you can stay in control of your autospins by setting a win and/or loss amount to stop the spins from continuing.  

RTP

Interstellar Attack has an RTP that averages at 94.00%. Each of the symbols has a different RTP setting, which ranges from 90.00% up to 97.20%. 

Volatility

Interstellar Attack has a medium volatility, which means you can enjoy more frequent wins at a good payout level. When I started to play the game, it quickly became clear that there is a huge potential for big wins, which can land when you least expect them. This only adds to the excitement and engagement of the interactive gameplay.  

Hit Frequency

Unfortunately, I could not discover the hit frequency for Interstellar Attack. However, it must be remembered that the hit frequency and volatility are different. Hit frequency describes how often a machine will stop on a winning combination. In contrast, volatility describes how often a winning combination comes up in relation to the maximum payout.

Jackpot and/or Maximum Win

Interstellar Attack has medium volatility, and I enjoyed frequent wins that paid out good sums of cash. Unfortunately, there is no progressive jackpot feature, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible to win big on this game…you just need the lucky stars to align, so a space-themed game isn’t a bad place to try!  

Game Features

If you have played games from High 5 Games before, you’ll know they are quite straightforward to play, and I found that Interstellar Attack was no exception. However, it was good to discover so many features that you can unlock and benefit from. 

Here, I take a look at some of the best features on offer:

Wilds, Re-spins and Other Features

Spin-Crease meter feature

It was great to see a Spin-Crease meter to the left of the main grid, which fills up when you hit crystal symbols and spaceships in an extra reel. When you fill the meter, you will Spin-crease your payout depending on what is on the grid. 

Power-up meter feature

The Power-up meter sits to the right of the grid. When spaceships appear in the extra reel, they fire at any asteroids that have landed, which are accumulated in the Power-up meter. When you collect 10 x asteroids, you can get a multiplier of up to 10 x your stake, a diverter to push the spaceship’s shot to a winning reel, or an exploding symbol to get rid of the asteroids.  

You can also land random Power-up symbols to assist you in your galactic battle. 

Interstellar Bonus feature

The Telescope scatter symbol could appear floating above the reels, and if you manage to shoot it during the base game, you’ll trigger the Interstellar Attack bonus game. Here, you get 10 x free spins, which arrive in six levels, each with its own stellar payout.

Interstellar Attack Graphics & Sound

Interstellar Attack has kept an arcade style charm

Although the graphics were a little basic or outdated, I found that added to the charm of Interstellar Attack; others might disagree. If you are a fan of games with more modern graphics, this is one you might want to avoid. 

Solutions if you have some issues with a game

• If the game is interrupted during play, players can replay the game round after restarting the game. If the player chooses to skip the replay, their win will be added to their balance immediately.
• In the event of malfunction of the gaming hardware/software, all affected game bets and payouts are rendered void and all affected bets are refunded.

Verdict

For any fans of arcade-style slots and/or space-themed games, this is one you would very much enjoy. It will take you on a trip down memory lane when many of the original games were based on these themes, so for that, I can give it the thumbs up.

For a generally uncomplicated game, there were plenty of features to keep you engaged and the excitement levels up. 

Overall, for me, it was a very enjoyable experience and a game that High 5 Games can be pleased with.
